Gordon Sherriff, Chief Operating Officer and Business Development Director

Gordon Sherriff trained as an Immunologist and has over 26 years experience in biologics manufacturing gained with the National Blood Service, the International Blood Group Reference Laboratory in Oxford, the Bio-Products Laboratory in London, Serologicals Inc. and Excell Biotech Limited, of which he was a co-founder. Gordon has held a number of senior scientific, operational, technical and managerial roles in these organisations. He has significant cGMP manufacturing, process development and quality systems experience having been responsible for the implementation in three organizations of MHRA (formerly MCA) manufacturers licences and for ISO 9001 certification. Gordon has also successfully maintained an FDA manufacturers licence and has significant regulatory experience including the CMC element of IND submissions. As a result, Gordon has a detailed understanding of regulatory issues and customer needs and concerns when contracting out their development and cGMP manufacturing.

Angela Scott, Director of Operations

Angela Scott has a BSc in life sciences and has over 24 years experience in cell culture. Angela worked for the Imperial Cancer Research Fund for ten years on the derivation and characterization of human primary cells and drug resistant animal cell lines. She then worked for ten years with PPL (Pharmaceutical Proteins Limited) on a variety of research and development programmes focusing on pioneering work within Nuclear Transfer in addition to stem cells and large-scale protein production to cGMP. Angela has also gained experience in facilitating projects from development to cGMP production in her role as Development Manager for Excell Biotech Limited. Prior to her current role, Angela was retained as a Quality Consultant for ESI International (Singapore).

 

With her extensive experience in stem cell research, Angela has played a major role at Angel in establishing our reputation as a centre of excellence in the field of cellular therapies and stem cells.

Finn Willingham, Director of Business Development

Dr Finn Willingham has an extensive research background with a BSc(Hons) in Biological Sciences and a doctorate in Molecular Biology. She undertook a series of postdoctoral research projects over a six year period within a number of UK universities, before becoming Marketing Manager of Bio Sci North Limited. This company, the precursor for the Centre of Excellence for Life Sciences, was set up to support the development of the bioscience sector in the North East of England. In this post, Finn was also responsible for marketing a Bioscience incubator at the International Centre of Life, Newcastle.

 

Finn joined Angel in 2004 in a Business Development role prior to becoming Head of Project Management in 2006.   Using her operational and commercial experience from these previous roles,  Finn became Director of Business Development in early 2009, spearheading Angel's efforts to expand its business in Advanced Biologics.

Alison Hewitt, Quality Manager

Alison has a BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences and over 10 years experience working in the biologics industry.  She worked for Scottish Agricultural College within their UKAS Accredited Central Diagnostic Laboratory for 4 years prior to joining an FDA Licensed production company, Serologicals Ltd.  During her 4 years at Serologicals, Alison was responsible for the day to day running of the Quality Control Biochemistry and Microbiology Laboratories and overseeing the testing of both intermediate and final blood typing products. 

 

Alison progressed to Angel Biotechnology in November 2005 as Quality Control Manager prior to promotion to her current position in 2007.
